The organization was founded on December 7^th, 1999.

Organization’s goals and objectives:

• coordination of NGO activities focused on women policy development;
• women rights advocacy;
• making women social position more sound;
• strengthening women’s role in the social life as well as their influence on economic and political life of the civil society.

Major trends of organization’s activity:

• women engagement into public activity;
• promoting gender equality;
• women engagement into the process of local community management;
• women rights advocacy;
• promoting women engagement into entrepreneurship activity;
• strengthening the role of the family as one of the major bases of the society, etc.

The list of projects / initiatives implemented by the organization in the sphere of civil society development and its activity review:

• 1998, 2002 – active participation in the election processes,  promotion of women as people deputies at the self-government bodies of different levels;
• 1998 – establishment of a Council of mothers having many children, their rights and interests advocacy; holding numerous charity actions “Help the fellow creature” (gathering clothes for the poor);
• 2005 – establishment of a Council of mothers of handicapped children, their rights and interests advocacy;
• conducting events under the framework of “Aged People Health Program” in cooperation with the municipal office of “Red Cross” and such organizations as “Hand in Hand” and “How Are You Doing, Veteran?”;
• “Establishment of a Consulting center for early pregnancy prevention among teenage girls” project implemented jointly by Alchevsk City Women Organization, Alchevsk office of Luhansk Oblast Guides Organization in Ukraine, Municipal health center, Department for family and youth issues and “Red Cross” organization and financed by American NGO – "Legacy International"
• holding different recreation events, etc.
